Stumptown is dedicated to providing the freshest, most unique coffees, roasted by hand in small batches, to the Portland area. Their beans are purchased on relationship-basis to support individual farmers, their families and communities for generations to come.

Spring is the season for African coffees from Stumptown:

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe (organic & fair trade) - Bright with notes of lemon peel, orchid, chocolate and Assam.

Rwanda Musasa (fair trade) - Beautiful acidity with lush cherries, peaches, semi-sweet chocolate and a fresh-cut cedar aroma.

Rwanda Karaba (fair trade) - Chocolate-covered blackberries, vanilla, cedar, and fruit blossoms.

deliver coffee to us the day after roasting to provide you the freshest, most aromatic coffee. Percasso uses 2 pound valve-lock bags to keep coffee fresher (instead of the 5 lb. bags) to minimize exposure to light and air, which deteriorates the essential oils of coffee beans.

We have a large selection of roasts, all available in selected grinds and packets. Some of our most popular roasts are:

French Roast
Indonesian, Central and South American beans are roasted to a deep rich, almost black color. The oils are fully developed in the beans and the finished cup is imbued with a bold, smoky flavor.
  Percasso Blend
1996 Portland Cup Winner "Best Morning Wake Up." A blend of Indonesian and Central American coffees, roasted to bring out the nuances of the beans. A great way to start the day!
Guatemalan, Finca el Paternal
This Shade Grown Guatemalan is rich and nutty with medium-high acidity, and a pleasingly sweet finish. Voted in the top one percent of 2000 coffees judged in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence.
  Portland House Blend
1996 Portland Cup Winner "Best After-Dinner Partner". This blend of Central American beans makes for a bold and flavorful cup.
Italian Roast
1997 Portland Cup Winner "Best Chocolate Lover's Companion."Indonesian, Central American and African beans are roasted to a level where the flavors of the individual bean are heightened by the smokiness of the roast, giving a bolder, more robust flavor to the finished cup.
  Sumatra Mandheling
Sumatra is known for its earthy aftertaste, full body, rich flavor and low acidity. The Sumatra Mandheling that we offer is so rich, and without bitterness, that it has a syrupy quality and makes a great all day cup of coffee.
We also carry national brands such as: Starbucks, Torrefazione, Folgers, Maxwell House, MJB and Yuban  

We have selected our roasters based not only on the quality of their roasts, but also on their participation in programs such as Fair Trade, Farm Friendly Direct, and Coffee Kids. Buying coffee based on economic and environmental sustainability assures the future availability of quality beans. And it allows us all to feel good about being coffee consumers.
